Dr Lee specializes in degenerative spinal diseases (lumbar stenosis, herniated disk, cervical myelopathy, neck pain, back pain), adult spinal deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis) and minimally invasive spine surgery (kyphoplasty, minimally invasive fusion, X-STOP).  He assisted on the first disc replacement performed at the Cleveland Clinic and also performed the fist X-STOPs at UCSD.  His main research interests are in disc regeneration and minimally invasive cervical fusions.  His past research includes work on bone morphogenetic proteins (BPM) and also gene therapy.
