Assistant Clinical ProfessorAdult Joint Reconstruction |
Dr Gonzales is an Orthopaedic Surgeon that specializes in adult hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He performs hip replacement surgery through an innovative muscle-sparing anterior approach, using a specialized surgical table, as well as tissue-sparing partial and total knee replacements. These less invasive surgical approaches allow for an accelerated recovery for today's active patient. Dr Gonzales has advanced training and has performed complex hip and knee revision surgery when joint replacements fail from various causes. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up in Orange County, CA. His inspiration to pursue a life in medicine stems from his mother and father, who are both physicians. Dr Gonzales earned his undergraduate degree at UC Berkley in Integrative Biology. He then graduated medical school from Georgetown University and went on to New York City for his orthopaedic surgery training at St Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center, an Academic Affiliate of Columbia University. It was at this point that he developed a passion and keen interest in hip and knee joint replacement surgery and enjoyed seeing patients return back to an active lifestyle. This led Dr Gonzales to the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in Alexandria, VA, where he completed an adult joint reconstruction fellowship, amongst leaders in the field of joint replacement surgery. When not practicing medicine, Dr Gonzales spends his time with his wife and new daughter. He also enjoys running, golf and playing basketball. "I believe a successful joint replacement starts with listening and educating the patient, then making decisions as a team that are unique to each person. Patient care begins at the first office visit, continues through the hospital stay to a full recovery at home, all the way through a renewed active lifestyle." |
